నిభృత స్వప్న సీమలలో

మేలా సౌఖ్యరోచిర్లీల!!

సంతత శాంతతరంగిణి

మదభరయువకురంగిణి

ఏలా యలసగమనమ్ము

ఏలా నవవిలసనమ్ము!!

ధరణీతలచంద్రశిలా

తరళమంటపమున నిలిచి

యుగములుగ పరిభ్రమింతు

నగమ్యుడౌ యెవని వలచి!!

కవి రాత్రి గురించి వర్ణిస్తున్నారు. విభావరి, తెల్లటి మంచు రత్నంలా ఉంది నీమీద. చీకటిని నల్లటి చీర లాగా ధరించావు, మనసు దోచావు. రెపరెపలాడే నీ కోక అంచులలో నిశ్చలమైన కలల సామ్రాజ్యం ఉంది. సుఖమయ కాంతులు వెదజల్లే ఆ చోట మరింకెందుకు ఆ భయం? ఓ రేయి, నిరంతరం పారే శాంతమైన నదివి నీవు. మదోన్మత్తమైన వయసులో ఉన్న జింకవి నీవు. అయినా ఎందుకు ఈ వడిలేని అడుగులు? ఏంటీ క్రొత్త కేళి? ఓ నిశా వనితా, చంద్రునికాంతిలో మెరిసిపోయే భూమి అనే రత్న మంటపం మీద నిలబడి ఉన్నావు. యుగ యుగాలుగా పరిభ్రమిస్తున్నావు. దొరకని ఎవరి గురించి? ఎవరిని వలచి?

Bedecked with glittering mist are you, a black vestment

adorning, you steal mine heart!!

In thine fluttering sari's

unwavering lands of dream

whence the shadows of fear

cast a net, comfort is in thee bosom's illumination!!
